Middle School French classes concentrate on the communicative approach of language acquisition and, as such, students are encouraged and expected to speak in French as much as possible. Through their studies, students are not only learning a new language, but are also developing critical thinking skills that are applicable to learning in many other content areas. Throughout any given class period, students will be provided a variety of activities that will allow them to have as much exposure to the language as possible.


You will be surprised at how much your child will be able to communicate in French by the end of his or her Middle School studies. Get ready for the ride!

French A is a formalized course of the French language and culture that builds the students' foundation. Students will explore French through activities that enforce the importance of good study habits and practice to acquire a new language.



French B is designed for students who have mastered the Power Standards of French A.Students will be expected to use French for almost all communication in class.



French C is a course for students who are ready to strengthen and increase their language skills and cultural knowledge, and who have mastered the Power Standards from both French Aand French B.



Survey Frenchis a class designed to meet the needs of students who are entering World Language in 7th or 8th grade. Classes are focused around the same Power Standards as French A.



Seminar Frenchis a class designed for students who have mastered the Power Standards in French A, B, and C. Students work on independent study projects to expand their linguistic and cultural knowledge of the language.





Students are not only learning a language, but also the thinking skills that are applicable to all subject matters as well as gaining a higher understanding of various cultures throughout the world.
